Digital Charting Class

The Digital Charting class will introduce you to the newest electronic tools for navigation. We use Maptech software and NOAA government charts to teach you how to use this technology. If you own a Windows PC, you can probably use this tool at home - starting after class. There will be a hands-on exercises (both paper and digital).

We assume that you have already learned to read charts (if not, please take our Local Waters-Local Charts before attending this class). Now, with a lot less effort, you can enter waypoints, plan routes, compute distances, and print your entire trip. You can even load the plan into your GPS.

We will use chart 11427 and you must bring yours to class! If you have a notebook PC and bring it to class, we will load the Maptech software on your machine.
